What is Advocare?

This is an email that came Heidi Fleming (a new distributor since June) and 6 Star leader Jesse Reynolds from Jacksonville, FL. It's about her thoughts of movie night. I bolded the parts of Heidi's response. z

*****************************

What did I see:
  • Being new to AdvoCare I'm observing from a different perspective. As I was walking into the theater my first thoughts were 'Wow, a company is taking the time to logistically arrange for this movie to happen simultaneously throughout the country.'
  • Once inside - meeting you (you're a legend - you know) and you said "Z mentioned you were coming"
  • My thoughts were 'that was very kind of Z to take the time to let you know that I would be there.'
  • So through you and Z on a personal level and the movie I saw a company that really cares about there team / people.
  • I saw company that understands the importance of training and motivating and sharing a plan for success.
  • A company that follows its guiding principles. The movie reconfirmed the quality of our medical & scientific board & sports advisory council. I saw a truthfulness in what I have read regarding safety, effectiveness and quality of the products.
  • Watching the movie I saw and heard the endorsers share their passion of Advocare and how the products have made a profound difference in their lives.
  • I got a better 'feel' of Mr. Richard Wright and his wife.
  • I saw after the movie on fb - REAL Advocare people were in the movie. Dawn & Diane and how the Advocare family gave them 'kudos' for their participation in the movie.
I saw a company that can (and has) change peoples lives through qualtiy safe nutrition and financial opportunities.

I saw a company that I am thrilled and blessed to be part of. A company with great potential and a company that CAN change the world.

Honoring Your Word

Thanks to Diamond Matt Warren for sharing.

Have you ever been flaked on? Flaked on someone? Whether you're feeling convicted or inspired, I encourage you to read on.

Ever not called someone when you said you would? Had someone no-show to an event after looking at you that day saying "I'll see you tonight"? (Hey I can take the no-show, stuff happens - but no call and no apology? That person is destined for lower living in many areas of life).

Unfortunately, it's all too common - ESPECIALLY with that rationalization of "it's just a little thing, not that big of a deal". oh no.. it's a big deal to champions and doers.

Wanna dissappoint a wealthy person? Don't keep your word on a little thing, you'll be sure to feel a chill the next time you're around them, and you can be assured you'll drop to the bottom of their list of people to be recommended for opportunity.

HOW SOMEONE DOES ANYTHING IS HOW THEY DO EVERYTHING.

It's tempting to get sucked into being a flake when it seems we're in a culture that simply has a hard time keeping it's word. DON'T DO IT. BE REFRESHINGLY DIFFERENT. LIVE A CHALLENGED LIFE.

I wouldn't say I was ever a "flake", but I certainly pulled a few "flip flops" in my 20's that drew harsh criticism from people whom I respected. I needed it and I decided to change EVEN the little things.

I'm far from perfect but I DID get to a point in my life where I:
- did what I said I was going to do
- called people whom I said I'd call
- moved forward with commitments that weren't comfortable
- avoided making commitments I knew I couldn't keep
- gave people as much advance notice when I couldn't deliver on my commitments
- began apologizing profusely when I couldn't deliver on my commitments (key!)

I read a book at a time in my life (2002) where I decided to live differently. The book radically changed my perspective on always keeping my word, even with the little things.

"THE 4 AGREEMENTS" by Don Miguel Ruizhas been a best seller for 8 years running.

The first "AGREEMENT" he encourages to make with yourself is:

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

- If you get on the treadmill and set it for 20 minutes, but you stop at 12 minutes, you didn't honor your word.

- If you tell me you'll ring me tomorrow with more details and tomorrow comes and goes and I don't hear from you, you didn't honor your word.

- If I have to take another call, promise to call you back, and then I don't, I didn't honor my word.

And when we don't honor our word in little things, it trickles into every area of life and ultimately the big things and the fruit (or lack of) in our life will reflect it.

Things changed in radically positive ways for me when I began to take my word seriously. it's like stepping onto a different playing field in the game of life. you'll like the company you'll be keeping when you choose to step in the arena of "people who keep their word" (if you're not there already).

And guess what? I don't have many folks who flake on me because I'm not attracting them into my life and I've gotten good at qualifying people before I'll move into business with them. If I don't sense integrity, I'll not progress with appointments, etc. so if you're getting pooped on often, accept responsibility that either 1) the favor is getting returned to you, or 2) you're an eagle who's mingling with turkeys.

The FUN Part of Business

Thank you to Diamond Matt Warren for sharing.

I'm going out on a limb to suggest that if we ever get in a mode of thinking that this business is difficult, we simply need to shift our perspective.

Perspective:

Charlie's vision in 1993 was to build a company that took care of all the aspects that could be burdensome to distributors.

Here are things we DIDN'T AND DON'T have to "mess" with. They are all provided for us:

- Product Formulation and Production

- Assembling a World Class Sci/Med Board

- DSA (Direct Sales Assoc.) Communication and Compliance

- Full time legal department

- Packaging / Shipping product orders

- Full time customer service department

- Compensation Plan / Accounting / Payroll / Paychecks

- Website Development and Maintenance

- E-Commerce / payment processing

- Professional Endorser Relationships/Agreements (Drew Brees)

- Marketing/Training Material (Impact Magazine, DVD's, Charlie "Notes on Success" Training CD's)

- National Success School (coordinating speakers, hotels, conference center)

Think about something. What if YOU were in charge of all the above. Look at each one and think about what goes into it.

Guys and Gals - Charlie Ragus was the real thing - he did not need to build Advocare. He'd attained "freedom" yet he still had a calling. He built this for us and he built it right.

Your lotto ticket is already bought and paid for. It's in your hands, you just have to cash it in.

I choose to believe that ADVOCARE IS EASY, and that my job is easy.

That doesn't mean there isn't hard work and some sacrifice, but our responsibilities are relatively simple. If anything, we've got it too good.

There are many "excellent" things (above) that make Advocare work, but all you and I need to become excellent in is taking the product, talking to people, and helping them do what you do.

I've got the most fun, exciting, rewarding opportunity in the world! Do you?

I'm lookin' to work with people who see the obviousness that I see. It's up to you and me to communicate the "obviousness" of what we do. If it's a no-brainer to you and me, others will catch that in our tone.

Rockford, IL Movie Night

Attention Advocare Champions & Leaders - From Terry Paulson.

The Rockford, IL Movie Night location is 1 hour and 26 minutes from downtown Chicago. This is an area that has minimal Advocare activity (maybe one distributor in Rockford before movie night was announced).

Zach and Heather Vogel have done a phenomenal job getting down into the Rockford I-90 corridor leading into Chicago. There are 120 people registered for this event in a theatre that holds 350. That is great. But I know we can do much better especially when we all lock arms.

I know most of us have one or two people in the Chicago area that we can talk to.
* And we all have leaders on our teams that know people in this area.

This is a unique opportunity to get someone started in an area where timing is simply amazing: The Chicago Metropolitan Area is the third largest MSA by population in the United States with a population of 9,569,624 (2008 estimate). (We are lucky if the combined population of Wisconsin and Minnesota is 10 million.)

Yesterday we put a focus on St. Paul, Minnesota. It is amazing what can happen when a few leaders put their focus on a goal. We registered 70 people in less than 24 hours to sell out the Minnesota location and put 20 people on the waiting list. What can we do with Rockford (and the Chicago area) considering the magnitude of this once in a lifetime opportunity?

Advocare Golfer wins with a hole-in-one

I’ve heard of a walk-off home run, but I’ve never heard of a walk-off hole-in-one!

Yesterday, AdvoCare golf endorser Jonathan Byrd hit a hole-in-one on the 203 yard, par-3, 17th hole in a playoff to win the 2010 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open!

New Advocare Endorser - Green Bay's Bryan Bulaga

The AdvoCare pro football tour continues, and locker room stop #24 is in Green Bay where we find our newest football endorser, rookie offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga.

Bryan is a smart, tough, versatile player who currently is listed as the back-up for three offensive line positions: left guard, right tackle, and left tackle. I don’t think he will be a back-up for long because this young man is one good player.

Bryan Bulaga Tidbits
Ø 2010 1st round draft pick by Green Bay
Ø Played college football at Iowa where he was recognized in 2009 as a 1st Team All-American and the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year
Ø In high school at Marian Central Catholic HS (IL), Bryan was named a Parade All-American and PrepStar All-American

Did You Know….In high school Bryan was also standout tight end and defensive end, and a number of universities recruited him to play those positions.

Advo Cocktails.. Beyond Just Spark..

Thanks to Matt Warren for sharing.

Lately, several new teammates have told me how much they "are enjoying the Spark"...

And as excited as I am that they like Spark, my immediate thought usually is "you're missin' out on some other really good stuff!"...

So here are some "Advocare Cocktail" ideas...

(Side note: Having been a health and fitness junkie and physically in tune years before Advocare, I've never felts as good as I have since I've dialed in the following regimen)

My typical day:

1) Morning: Spark mixed with Arginine Extreme

2) Mid Afternoon: Rehydrate alone or mixed with Spark and/or Bio Charge

3) Late Evening: Rehydrate mixed with Arginine Extreme

Here is some rationale on each:

Morning: Spark mixed with Arginine Extreme
- Arginine "smooths out" the Spark, and this combo tastes really good
- Arginine helps with blood flow and nerve function, while Spark helps with brain function
- Arginine has max benefit on an empty stomach, so first thing in the morning I'm mixin Spark and Arginine, washin' down MNS Max 3, 1 ThermoPlus, and 3 Catalyst

Mid Afternoon: Rehydrate alone, or mixed with Spark and/or Bio Charge
- Rehydrate is one of the unsung heros of the entire product line, it's one of our favorites
- Rehydrate is the ultimate "refresher"... oftentimes Rehydrate is what you need for an afternoon pick-me-up, as it bathes your cells and helps eliminate acid caused from physical and mental stress accumulated during the first part of the day
- Bio Charge has anti-inflammatory benefits, so mixing with Grape Rehydrate acts as an afternoon "anti inflammatory refresher cocktail"

Late Evening: Rehydrate mixed with Arginine Extreme
- As we sleep, our body eliminates waste and repairs
- Arginine helps with blood flow, which helps in all bodily functions, and aids in nitric oxide production which has repairative and youthful benefits, especially on an empty stomach and while you sleep
- Rehydrate helps with "flushing" and removing cellular waste that accumulated throughout the day.

I believe in a life where feeling good most all of the time is possible, and I know that what I input physically, mentally, and spiritually is the largest determinate of that.

For the sake of space and time, I'll let you explore more of the science online. Or, you can trust the Sci/Med Board's body of work and put the product to the test yourself.

Game Changers. Once they join, life is never the same.

Thanks to Matt Warren for sharing.

Before, I shared various thoughts on building a solid business over time.

A common question and response I've since gotten is "What were the biggest factors in your biz nearly tripling in 2008 and 2010?"

For those interested, let me address that question.

- In both 2007 and 2009 (the years that preceeded the booms), we had some serious high-upside teammates come aboard our team.

- These distributors got to Gold 3 Star pretty fast (much faster than we did!), and have intangibles and qualities that you can't necessarily coach, things like influence, toughness, integrity, thick skin, communication skills, etc.

- These people could be described as "game changers", difference makers, Advo "prototypes".

- We were taught early in this biz, when you see a fire, go pour gas on it, regardless of the "level" it is in your business.

- Remember, you don't have to have all the above qualities or to be like those people! The key is to create a brand or environment that attracts people who DO have those qualities. So this message is for all of us! We all want champion types on our team right? We all want to attract people to our team with MORE talent that we have right? I know I do.

- The bigger lesson here is what attracted these folks to our team. Some thoughts:

1) Advocare: our company, product, business, leadership speaks for itself - Good people will see good things in Advocare.

2) Stability: by 2007 and 2009 we'd been around for a few years and had built a modest but respectable income (3-5K/month). that income level is a magnet for people because it's an amount that would make a difference for most people and it's achievable. Will you be here long enough to brand yourself as profitable and stable? I hope so. Another thought on stability: we've been doing Pay Period Kickoff Calls since the summer of 2007, over 3 years now every pay period almost without exception. Our leaders all plug in and often contribute. Stability attracts stable people. Are you building a tradition of stability for your local team?

3) Relaxed Intensity: Our team carries a consistent message that's not based on hype. Solid people aren't drawn to hype, they're drawn to stability and integrity. We don't promote "get rich quick", we promote "build freedom and wealth steadily". That's the message people want to hear, especially in these times.

4) Personal Growth: I remember going to a Ron Reynolds event back in 2005 wearing shorts and hiking shoes. I was demonstrating my newfound Colorado coolness. I wasn't cool, I looked like an idiot. You get my point. I certainly wasn't doing myself any favors in attracting champion types to our team. Translation: dress, speak, and conduct yourself in a way that attracts champions. Would you follow you?

Keep branding yourself in the above ways. Remember you're a part of a winning team. Plug into major events.. utilize the income stories all around you as you build one yourself. Do these things over time and you'll attract the force multiplying difference makers to your team.

- On Sunday our pastor told of breaking his generational curse of the tendency to ALMOST do something great only to get sidetracked by boredom, a new challenge, etc. Seems like a human condition. very few people win this battle, and it is a battle. it's a battle that he and we made a very conscious decision of overcoming. I hope the same for everyone else who desires freedom and abundance.

- Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" says to expect 5-10 years of persistence to build a solid direct sales business, and that most people will get either discouraged or distracted during that time, yet those who remain focused on the good thing they have end up winning big.

- We've seen a lot of people come and go over the past 6 years.. we've seen that "checking out" for a few DAYS is healthy and necessary. "checking out" for a few WEEKS is deadly to a business. be careful with this.

- You'd probably be surprised at how busy we're NOT. From the beginning, we've always been consistent with DOING THE 3 OR 4 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS EACH DAY and giving the BEST of our business energy to those 3 or 4 things daily.

- Kiyosaki also says the desire for freedom, not $, will be what keeps a warrior locked in long enough to build up their business. they truly despise others telling them when they can have time off, get a pay raise, etc.

- Looking back on our journey, we were willing to drive old cars and even live in someone's basement for a period of time simply for the chance at freedom. Had we insisted on the cool stuff and sweet rides, we'd have been tied to jobs that would have taken some time and energy from the pursuit of real freedom. Advocare is on track to pay us over 500K this year alone... but the freedom to make choices is what's most important, not the $.

- If you can persist and FIGHT THROUGH to the 50K-70K year solid Ruby mark, you've set yourself up for a "wealth trajectory". it doesn't matter how long it takes to get to solid Ruby, JUST GET THERE.

Notice the trajectory our biz took from 2007-2008, then from 2009-2010:
- 2005: 37K
- 2006: 37K
- 2007: 52K
- 2008: 145K
- 2009: 200K
- 2010: 500K (based on continued avg of 45K monthly income in 2010)

- Charlie Ragus' advice to early Advocare Diamonds: continue to invest in your Advocare business with your time, energy, and resources, AND BANK YOUR MONEY. Translation: keep doing what got you here, don't get fancy with investments and distracted by investing in "projects" and "opportunities". the first principle of investing is to protect the principle.

- Momentum is a precious gift that we've got to protect and extend when we have it, because winter always follows a harvest. the winter could be a challenging time in our business or personal life. how we treated our previous harvests and momentum seasons often times determines how cold, harsh, and long our winter will be.

- If you're going through a "winter" in your business, keep in mind that somewhere someone else at at the peak of their harvest; they're on fire and seemingly can do no wrong. It's key not to blame the program (Advocare) during your winters, because the same program is goin' gangbusters for someone else!

- There are lots of factors that lead to the end of momentum and the entry of a temporary winter, many of which aren't our fault. embrace the season for what it is, don't beat yourself up too badly.

- Momentum makes us look better than we really are, while a cold spell makes us look worse than we really are, so we should strive to be even keeled emotionally regardless of the season. not easily done, but certainly something to strive for..

- The winters can and should be the precursors to our greatest boom times. winter is a time for growth and reflection, a time to recommit to fundamentals, and the time when the priceless SENSE OF URGENCY falls upon us.

- Great leaders seem to have a way of imposing a sense of urgency upon themselves even when times are good. this is something we all must strive for.

The 7 Decisions..

Thanks to Diamond Matt Warren for sharing.

We all intend to read great stuff right? But time to read is tough to squeeze in huh? If you'd like a short cut, read on..

Below is a link to a "Readers Digest" version of one of the most important books we've read during our Advocare journey.

Amber and I read it when we were at the Silver level, earning $500 - $1000 per month, and on the verge of moving 5 states away.

We repeatedly used "The 7 Decisions" of this book to keep faith and build on during times of great challenge and uncertainty.

The book, "The Traveler's Gift", by Andy Andrews is incredible - read it if you can.

But until you have time to read the entire book, here are THE 7 DECISIONS Andy outlines in the book..

Our SIMPLE job

Thanks to Diamond Matt Warren for sharing.

For those of you determined to build a full or part time income of 3K per month or more..

At times our job can seem complex. But if you think about it, our primary job really is simple.

We help people get to the advisor level - the top discount of 40%.

Also, we help our advisors help others get to the advisor level.

We become "SUCCESSFUL" here when we directly and indirectly help a bunch of people get to the top discount level with a nutrition line that is life changing, literally life changing, (energy up, skin improved, cholesterol down, body fat down, strength up, I could go on.)

Wow. Is there a more noble profession? Sounds to me like one of THE top professions of the new millennium and the new economy.

"Profession" you say? Yes - simply choose to "do" Advocare in a professional way. You commit to ongoing education and practice, just like any professional.

Remember - you are in "business development" for a world class nutrition company.

Speak "Advisor" like a pro.

Teach "Advisor" like a pro.

Do like a Pro and you'll get paid like a Pro.

Lets Take Spark Viral

This was sent to me by 9 Star Emerald Bob Ferngren via A Champions Notebook (on Facebook).

Here is the idea...Actually we are borrowing the idea from the past two years that Breast Cancer Awareness has used. In the last two years, they have asked women to post the color of their bra and currently where they like to put their hand bag/purse when they get home (I like it on the Kitchen Table, ...on the floor..., etc.).

So using this idea, post in your status when you like your Spark but don't post the word "Spark" in the message. For Example: I like it before breakfast or Nothing is better than it right after lunch.

Remember to post this in your status. This I believe will be a great way to introduce Spark...or at least get the buzz going!

Have a SPARK Day!

Delayed Gratfication

On July 18, 2010 I created this post. It was about the Advocare leads program. Many people said they wanted to be part of the team that was going to have leads handed to them by Advocare. Especially since the period we were working towards included the Independence Bowl.

Well now, 81 days later the smoke has cleared. We now know who on the Wolfpack will receive leads from Advocare during the IBowl. Congratulations to each and every champion listed below:
  • Bob Ferngren
  • Jorge & Ana Zorrilla
  • Kitt & Karen Hildreth
  • Yadira & Art Schulz
  • Jesse & Elizabeth Reynolds
  • Michael & Debra Lenahen
  • Darlene Hinson
  • Diane Mcneil
  • Jason Horsley
  • Mark & Terri Mccoy
  • Tammy Roberts
  • Jamie Moore
  • Chantal Simpson
  • Jon & Lisa Marte
  • Mark Blas
  • Carolyn Davidson
  • Christy & John Johnson
This is a game of delayed gratification. What you have today is a function of what you did 90 days ago. Want to change what you have in the next 90 days? Make a change today, work hard and delay your gratification . You'll be very pleased that you did.

Yesterday started the qualification of the next leads cycle which will have national weightloss season going on during it! This post has the blueprint of what the leads program is and how to get on it.

ps. What I would do is download and print this out and then head over to http://www.advocaremovie.com and get registered.
